Oakland Police reach out to find missing boy

Oakland Police are asking the public for help in locating a young boy who went missing Wednesday evening.

11-year-old Jerry Walker, a resident of Greater New Beginnings group home on Filbert Street in Oakland, was last seen around 6:30 Wednesday night, and didn’t show up for school on Thursday morning.

It isn’t clear yet whether Walker is a runaway or was kidnapped, though Oakland Police told the Trib they consider Walker a “missing person at risk.”

Staff members at the group home who last saw Walker on Wednesday said that the boy was wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie.

Anyone with information about Walker’s whereabouts, or thinks they might have seen him, should contact the Oakland Police Department’s Youth and Family Services at 510-238-3641.
