We don’t know about you about, but SFBay was thrilled to hear about the imminent opening of Subpar Miniature Golf in Alameda.

Michael Taft, owner and manager of the 18-hole indoor course, had the brilliant idea to build a customized Bay Area-themed course with holes modeled after the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and The Winchester Mystery house.

The Bay Area-flavored fun zone should draw locals and tourists alike to putt golf balls around the Bay’s well-known landmarks.

But what will keep Bay Area residents coming back — in addition to the decent prices — are themed holes only locals can appreciate.

On the Port of Oakland hole, your ball tunnels through shipping containers. A realistic I-580 Interchange includes a maze of passages, and the East Oakland hole comes complete with mini Taqueria Sinaloa taco truck!

Laughing Squid’s Rusty Blazenhoff toured the course recently, and reports Subpar expects to open this weekend. They are already accepting reservations for its party room.
