A pedestrian was killed while trying to walk up an off-ramp to U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco this evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded at 9:08 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian walking up the Alemany Boulevard off-ramp to northbound Highway 101, CHP Officer Damian Cistaro said. A short time later, Cistaro said officers received additional calls reporting a car had struck the pedestrian.
Medical personnel tried to revive the person, but Cistaro said the pedestrian died at the scene. A coroner was called around 10 p.m. Emergency crews had blocked the third lane on Highway 101 and Cistaro said the lane is not expected to reopen until around 11:30 p.m.
