A three-year-old child drowned in a family pool in Vallejo this afternoon, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
Police said they received a call at about 4:10 p.m. of the drowning in the 100 block of California Street. A family member found the child unresponsive in a home’s backyard swimming pool, police said.
The family started CPR and paramedics continued it on the way to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center in Vallejo, but the child died at the hospital at about 4:35 p.m., Vallejo police Lt. Herman Robinson said.
Robinson said the child was the only person in the backyard when he drowned.
