Two suspects were arrested Friday in Santa Clara in connection with several charges related to crashing into a police vehicle during a pursuit and then fleeing from officers.
Police said Roy Spotwood, 21, and Randy Gonzalez, 24, both of San Jose, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft and hit-and-run.
On Friday at 7:52 a.m., an officer attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the area of 1670 Avina Circle, but the vehicle failed to stop and deliberately struck the police vehicle, police said.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen, then fled and crashed with another vehicle about half a mile away in the area of Garrity Way and Doyle Circle.
The suspects, identified as Spotwood and Gonzalez, then abandoned the vehicle but were located and taken into custody in the 800 block of Transil Way, police said.
The officer involved in the crash was not injured.
