In his Dew Tour debut, 18-year-old Louie Lopez rolled off with the skate street title during Saturday Toyota City Championships competition at Civic Center Plaza.
Injuries to Paul Rodriguez and Felipe Gustavo thinned the field for Lopez, who beat out Kelvin Hoefler, Ryan Decenzo, Sean Malto, and Chaz Ortiz in the super final round to claim first place.
Also Saturday, Garrett Reynolds took top prize in the BMX Street Final, while Kyle Baldock won the BMX Dirt event on massive dirt jumps built between the Asian Art Museum and the Pioneer Monument.
Sunday’s action includes the skate streetstyle final at 1 p.m., and the BMX streetstyle final at 4 p.m.
