If George Lucas could make this stuff up, it would still be too outrageous for Star Wars.
The Raiders announced late Wednesday evening that newly-signed left tackle Rodger Saffold failed his physical and will not be joining the team.
In a corresponding report, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Saffold will be returning to St. Louis and finalizing a contract with the Rams.
After a disagreement in OAK on OT Rodger Saffold's physical condition, he is returning to STL to sign a 5-yr contract with the Rams. Wow.

The blunder is a huge blow to the rebuild of the Raiders and possibly an even stronger gut-punch to general manager Reggie McKenzie, as the market for high-quality offensive linemen has slimmed heavily since free agency began.
There are still a number of players available, Anthony Collins and Michael Oher being two of the more prominent left tackles, though it’s hard to fathom either one being an upgrade on the recently lost Jared Veldheer.
The failure by the Raiders front office may have McKenzie instantly on the hot seat, despite an overwhelming sense of comfort he’s shown in public.
