Gestalt's liquor license was suspended for 30 days after allegations that an employee had been selling marijuana to patrons.
The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Thursday suspended a San Francisco restaurant’s liquor license for 30 days after finding that controlled substances had been sold to patrons.
ABC officials have posted a notice of suspension at Gestalt Haus, located at 3156 16th St. Agents allege that restaurant employee Luther Dan Smith, 34, was selling marijuana – and some of that business took place in the restaurant.
Smith’s last known address was in Oakland, officials said. John Carr, an ABC spokesperson, said they will forward the complaint against Smith to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office for consideration of possible criminal charges:
“It will be up to the DA whether they want to move forward.”
Officials have prohibited Gestalt Haus from selling or serving alcohol for 30 days. The restaurant has also been put on probation, Carr said:
“If we discover that there are other violations, we have the authority to come in and revoke the license.”
The restaurant was the subject of a four-month investigation in 2014, Carr said. Management at Gestalt Haus could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
