Mother and child on bicycle struck by car


A vehicle struck a mother and child on a bicycle in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond neighborhood Friday¬†afternoon after the driver ran a red light, according to police.

Police were called to 7th Avenue and Geary Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. today on a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and cyclist. Officers found that a mother and her toddler daughter were struck while they were riding on a bicycle.

The mother suffered a broken leg and the toddler only bumps and bruises. They were taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and both are expected to survive, police said.

Investigators believe the driver ran a red light before the collision, police said. The collision blocked traffic until shortly before 5 p.m. Police are asking anyone who witnessed this collision or has information to call the Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
