Mission stabbings injure three women

Three female assailants injured three women in separate stabbings on San Francisco’s Mission Street this past weekend, police said Monday.

The first stabbing occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday near Mission and 16th streets, police spokesman Officer Wilson Ng said.

The suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Amelia Flores, allegedly approached the 27-year-old Richmond woman from behind.

When the victim turned around Flores stabbed her in the chest with a knife, according to San Francisco police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan.

Flores fled the scene on foot but was later located and arrested by police. Officers did not have a listed city of residence for Flores.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The next stabbing occurred about seven hours later on Mission Street just south of Cesar Chavez Street, according to Gatpandan.

The stabbing was reported at about 2:07 p.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of Mission Street.

The 33-year-old female victim, a San Francisco resident, had been involved in an argument with two female suspects and a male suspect prior to the attack.

A female suspect, described as a Hispanic woman in her early 20s, took out a knife and stabbed the victim. The other two suspects are described as a Hispanic woman between 30 to 35 years old and a Hispanic man between 30 and 35 years old.

The victim fell to the ground and the three suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of police, Ng said.

Gatpandan said the victim suffered a laceration to her cheek, a stab wound to her ear and scrapes to her elbow. She was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

She said the victim was not cooperative with the police investigation and that it’s possible she knew her assailant.

The third stabbing occurred a few hours later, among a large group of people gathered outside a nightclub on Mission Street near Excelsior Avenue, Gatpandan said.

At about 4:45 a.m. on Saturday a 35-year-old Richmond woman who had left the nightclub was confronted by as many as 10 suspects, Gatpandan said.

She was punched by suspects and then stabbed by a female suspect armed with a knife, according to Gatpandan.

Ng said that because there were so many people involved in the attack, there are no complete descriptions of the suspects.

The victim suffered stab wounds to her abdomen and lacerations to her forearm. She was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Gatpandan said the suspect is described as a Hispanic woman between 18 and 20 years of age. She said the victim does not necessarily know the suspect.

Ng said that the three stabbings do not appear to be related, but that all three remain under investigation. The motive for the stabbings has not been determined.
