Second homicide strikes Potrero Hill block

A 26-year-old man who was shot and killed at the Potrero Terrace public housing complex in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood on the Fourth of July has been identified by the medical examiner’s office.
The homicide was the second on the block in the last week.
At about 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, Bay Area resident Jamar Samuel was found lying face down on the ground in the 1000 block of Connecticut Street near 25th Street, according to police.
Samuel was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was unconscious and not breathing and soon died of his injuries, police said.
The San Francisco medical examiner’s office confirmed that Samuel was a Bay Area resident, but said that their office has not yet determined his exact city of residence.
On June 29, 33-year-old San Francisco resident Prince Johnson was also found bleeding on the ground in the 1000 block of Connecticut Street at about 12:50 p.m., according to police.
Johnson suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the homicides and a motive for the killings remain under investigation.
