The Oakland A’s minor league affiliate Stockton Ports announced Sunday afternoon that athletic trainer Travis Tims has been selected as the 2015 California League Athletic Trainer of the Year.
The award, presented by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society was voted on by Tims’ comrades throughout the California League trainers.
Tims, a Santa Fe native, obtained his degree in exercise and sports science at Oregon State University and is in his third season as athletic trainer with the Ports, and his seventh with the A’s organization.
Keith Lieppman, A’s Director of Player Development said in a press release:
“The Oakland Athletics are extremely proud of the fact that Travis Tims’ outstanding performance and service to our staff and players over the years has been recognized by his peers this year in the California League.”
Tims previously interned with the Seattle Mariners Arizona Rookie League team in 2007 before serving as athletic trainer in Vermont in 2011 and Vancouver (2008-10) where he was named Northwest League Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2010.
Being a reward recipient for the California League, Tims is now eligible to be recognized as the Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year.
