Local law enforcement vigilant after Paris attacks

Numerous law enforcement agencies in the greater Bay Area have issued statements in the wake of Friday night’s terrorist attack in France, saying their personnel are maintaining a heightened presence in the interest of public safety.

Police in Oakland and San Francisco have issued statements indicating that their personnel are working with federal partners such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations to monitor intelligence reports or address security concerns.

San Francisco police say their officers are maintaining increased visibility. Officers are also increasing patrols in high-traffic areas.

Oakland police say they’re increasing staffing at major events.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center and the FBI to monitor the situation in France, according to the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.

All three agencies say that to the best of their knowledge there is no credible threat of an attack here in the United States, but they have advised their personnel to remain vigilant.
