The Girl Scouts of Northern California will kick off their cookie season early this year in time for Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Girl Scout officials said.
The early kickoff on Monday at booths around the Bay Area, including Super Bowl City at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco, will give fans a chance to serve cookies at Super Bowl parties for the game on Feb. 7, according to the organization.
The Girl Scouts will also be selling door-to-door and online.
Customers will have more options to pay for cookies this year, with some booths accepting credit and debit cards.
Improvements have also been made to the Digital Cookie 2.0 online sales platform, which allows girls to accept orders and send cookies to customers from anywhere in the U.S., according to Girl Scout officials.
The improved system also allows girls to track their goals and analyze their sales numbers.
Girl Scouts of Northern California CEO Marina Park said in a statement:
“With the new technology offerings of Digital Cookie 2.0 and the advanced date coinciding with the Big Game, 2016 will be a great year for our troops and they’ll be well-positioned to reach their fundraising goals.”
The cookie sale is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Girl Scouts. All boxes sell for $5 each, except gluten-free Toffe-tastic cookies that cost $6. Girl Scout officials said $3.95 of each $5 box sold goes to fund initiatives for the organizations throughout the year.
