Police have confirmed that an officer was assaulted and “a few arrests” were made Thursday night after an anti-Donald Trump rally outside an appearance by the presumptive Republican nominee in San Jose.
In a statement issued around 10:40 p.m., police could not provide details about how many suspects were arrested or what crimes they are suspected of having committed.
Details about the officer’s condition were likewise unavailable.
Numerous videos posted to social media depicted violence as protestors clashed with people leaving the rally outside the venue, including some in which Trump supporters were assaulted on camera by unidentified suspects.
Police said that no significant property damage has been reported, and more details will be disclosed on Friday.
