Thirteen-year-old boy found driving stolen Prius
Police detained three teens and one adult after officers found them inside a stolen car in Menlo Park Friday night.
At around 10 p.m., an officer saw a red Toyota Prius near Euclid Avenue and O’Conner Street in East Palo Alto, according to police.
The officer recognized the vehicle as being similar to a Prius that was taken hours earlier during a residential burglary in East Palo Alto, police said.
After checking the license plate, the officer confirmed his suspicions that the car was the same one reported stolen.
Responding officers then stopped the Prius in the 500 block of O’Conner Street in Menlo Park, according to police.
Inside, the officers found the Prius’ driver to be a 13-year-old East Palo Alto boy. The three passengers inside were identified as a 14-year-old and 15-year-old, both from Redwood City, and a 21-year-old from East Palo Alto, police said.
The four were detained by officers and eventually released to their families, according to police.
Police are continuing to investigate claims that the four may be involved in other recent burglaries in and around Menlo Park.
