Deputies responded to 911 calls from concerned residents reporting a man was shooting a gun in the area of Bueno Street and Linda Vista Avenue in Napa.
When deputies arrived, the man began shooting, sheriff’s officials said.
“To protect ourselves, and the greater public, our officers fired their service weapons fatally wounding the man,” according to the sheriff’s office.
An advisory was issued at 2:25 p.m. about police activity in the area of Linda Vista Avenue between West Pueblo and West Park avenues.
Nearby West Park Elementary School was locked down from 2 p.m. to 3:10 p.m., according to the Napa Valley Unified School District.
No one else was injured in the shooting, sheriff’s officials said.
