A dump truck allegedly driven by a 55-year-old man under the influence is seen crashed into a senior center in San Bruno Monday.

Officers arrested an Alameda man suspected of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance Monday afternoon in San Bruno after he crashed a dump truck into a senior center, police said.

At 2:43 p.m., officers responded to the San Bruno Senior Center at 1555 Crystal Springs Road for a report of vehicle crash, according to police.

There, officers learned a commercial dump truck crashed into a wall at the senior center. While the building sustained major damage, no one was injured during the incident.

Officers identified the driver as 55-year-old Joseph Sivils.

Officers evaluated Sivils and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

Additionally, officers found him to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine and discovered that he was not licensed to drive the dump truck.

Officers arrested Sivils on suspicion of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and driving a vehicle outside of his classified driver’s license, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Bruno Police Department at (650) 616-7100 or sbpdtipline@sanbruno.ca.gov. Tipsters have the option of remaining anonymous.
