A BART passenger was punched and bloodied late Saturday night in an attempted robbery at the MacArthur Station in Oakland, an incident causing BART trains destined for Antioch and Richmond to roll through the station without stopping for about 25 minutes, BART said.
The attack happened about 10 p.m. Saturday. BART police said. The male victim was approached by a group of teens and punched in the face, and tried unsuccessfully to take the victim’s cell phone. The victim was not seriously injured.
Five teens were apprehended before they could get out of the station, police said, and as of 11:30 p.m. remained detained but had not been arrested.
Northbound and eastbound trains resumed stopping at MacArthur by 10:30 p.m.
