CANDLESTICK PARK — Sisters and cousins of defensive end/fullback Will Tukuafu kicked off the 49ers’ Fan Fest on Saturday at Candlestick Park with the singing of the national anthem.

A crowd of 10,536 showed up to watch San Francisco’s only public practice this year, an effort 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh called a “raggedy practice offensively.”

Colin Kaepernick said he was happy to be back in front of the fans at the 49ers home stadium:

“Always more energy with the fans here, just brings another aspect to the game.”

Fresh off  the PUP List, Kendall Hunter received an nice ovation from the offensive line when he checked in for 11-on-11s. He looked good in drills and when asked if Hunter was now the backup to Frank Gore, head coach Jim Harbaugh said:

“He’s probably is the number two guy in terms of assignments. We all know what Kendall’s about and I think things will go well for him. But whenever you’re coming off an injury you got to prove that you’re back to 100 percent. Also you have to prove you’re better than other people.”

Hunter was thankful to be back:

“You never know how much the game meant to you until it’s taken away from you.”

Returning center Jonathan Goodwin botched several snaps and the quarterbacks weren’t so sharp Saturday afternoon.

B.J. Daniels and Scott Tolzien were both intercepted, as was Kaepernick when A.J. Jenkins tipped a ball into the hands of Darcel McBath.

Perrish Cox and Michael Thomas both deflected passes during the 2-minute drill while, the one offensive play to remember was a gameday lead block that Anthony Dixon delivered on Dan Skuta paving the way for Chad Hall on an end around.

Elsewhere, left tackle Joe Staley, cornerback Tarell Brown, safety Bubba Ventrone and running back Jewell Hampton stayed back at the teams’ practice facility in Santa Clara working through very minor injuries along with others.

Tramaine Brock, Ray McDonald and Vance McDonald warmed up, but did not see the field. Eric Reid played four snaps then walked off with what looked like hip or back issue. Harbaugh declined to comment on Reid.

Quinton Patton, Lamar Divens, and Colt McCoy donned blue non-contact jerseys, but McCoy should be at full strength as early as tomorrow.

Harbaugh also confirmed that Daniels will get some snaps at quarterback in the next preseason game in Kansas City on Aug. 16.
