Breed declares victory, Leno concedes
San Francisco mayoral candidate and Board of Supervisors President London Breed will become The City’s first African American female mayor.
Breed, 43, a San Francisco native, held a press conference at the City Hall steps on Wednesday to thank former state Sen. Mark Leno, who called Breed Wednesday morning to concede.
Leno conceded the mayor’s election earlier this afternoon at his business shop.
Breed that she will be the mayor for everyone in The City:
“I have said from the beginning, whether you voted for me or not, I will be your mayor too.”
Breed added that it was time to leave the political drama of the election behind and to work together solve the most pressing issues in The City:
“I am prepared to make sure I do everything I can to work together, to bring the Board of Supervisors together, to bring everyone together for the purposes to solving our most challenging problems.”
Her campaign has announced plans for a media event on Thursday.
