Coast Guard San Francisco sector receives change of command

U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco, which handles maritime security, safety and stewardship from the San Luis Obispo County line north to the Oregon border, will get a new commander Thursday.

Coast Guard officials said a ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at 1 Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco.

Capt. Marie Byrd will replace Capt. Tony Ceraolo during a change-of-command ceremony on Yerba Buena Island.

Coast Guard officials said Ceraolo is set to become a senior counselor to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
