PG&E inspectors and independent contractors are inspecting utility poles in Sonoma County in advance of the upcoming wildfire season, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office on Tuesday issued the advisory after property owners reported suspicious people and companies looking at the poles on their property.
The contractors and companies may be from outside California, but all inspectors have been issued photo identification by PG&E, sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum said.
Inspectors are asking property owners for permission to access their property to inspect lines and repair potential problems. Inspectors will not be doing any work in homes, and if anyone asks property owners if they can enter, they should call the sheriff’s office immediately, Crum said.
