An arrest was made for a homicide that occurred at Fifth and Stevenson streets on Aug. 18, San Francisco police said Wednesday.

Police arrested 45-year-old Antwan Monroe on suspicion of punching 48-year-old Tung Tran, leaving Tran unconscious and lying on the ground. Tran was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries and died Aug. 20.

Investigators reviewed a nearby surveillance camera and released a photo image of Monroe to the public through social media. Some officers recognized Monroe, police said.

Officers from the Tenderloin police station picked up Monroe on the 1000 block on Mission Street on Aug. 20.

Records show Monroe was booked on charges of murder and possession of a controlled substance at the San Francisco County Jail 4.
